“Empty Plate” by Scott Sparks

A full moon, to me, looks like an empty plate
Brightening a darkened sky of a cloudless fate
Some say studies show its cycles affect moods
Crime rates rise and people lose their cool
I, too, have felt the tide shift within me
When the waxing and the waning momentarily cease
Such a phenomenon is beyond the ken of man
Let us marvel at the things we weren’t meant to understand
If what looks like an empty plate can alter our attitude
Who’s to say an empty plate can’t alter our gratitude?
