“Mixtape o’ Mania 044” Playlist by Richard F. Yates

mixtape o mania 044

The nights are getting colder. The trees are JUST starting to turn orangish, and my trick knee is starting to give me some real trouble! Can only mean one thing: FALL is coming. My wife and I are both fans of the autumn, partially because we don’t like HEAT and partially because it means that Halloween is on the way. But, to fully appreciate this season, one needs an appropriate soundtrack…

For my 99th playlist on the 8tracks site, I’ve put together some down-tempo, introspective, somewhat unsettling little tunes (only 13 of them this time), with which we can all start to enjoy the darkening skies and dipping temperatures! Again, without dwelling on genres, these tracks probably fall most comfortably within the alternative / glam / goth / post-punk categories, with more of an emphasis on atmosphere than dance-ability or hard-core-ness. This was my mood. Let me know how it meshes with yours!

(If you can’t see the little player, you can find the playlist HERE! You shouldn’t need to download anything to listen, just click the “play” button.)

“Mixtape o’ Mania 044” Playlist
(Approx. 58 minutes.)

4. The Legendary Pink Dots – “Colour Wheel”
5. Concrete Blonde – “Darkening of the Light”
6. Martin L. Gore – “Stardust”
7. The Dictators – “Sleepin’ with the TV On”
8. Roxy Music – “For Your Pleasure”

11. Chameleons UK – “Swamp Thing”
12. Alien Sex Fiend – “Hee-Haw (Here Come the Bone People)”
13. The Cure – “A Strange Day”

The next playlist will be my 100th on 8tracks, (I started putting playlists up on that site in 2011, and each one has an original piece of “cover” art by me,) and this next playlist is going to be a BIG ONE… I’m thinking I’ll probably do 100 songs. (Makes sense, right? 100 songs for the 100th playlist? Makes sense to me…) I’m going to go get started…
