“Opinions from the Bottom of a Cereal Bowl” by Richard F. Yates

opinions from the bottom of a cereal bowl (29 dec. 2018) by rfy - (peg)

2018 is almost done… Who knows what next year will bring? I live in the troubled U.S.A., in a small logging town, in the wet and wild Pacific Northwest—and though my financial situation is right on the verge of **dire** (I’m a poor prognosticator,) I’m still hopeful for the future.

For one thing, my older daughter, Frankie, is expecting, and I will be a GRANDPA this coming July. In the last year and a half, she has gotten married, bought a house, and now there’s a new kid in the works. My wife and I are certainly looking forward to being grandparents, even if we are WAY, WAY too young! (I think of myself as being about 13 years old, most of the time—though I’m actually a BIT older than that…)

Another positive thing that has happened recently is that my younger daughter, Elise, has started a new, full time job in a medical office, after finally completing her degree and certificate programs. Both of the kids seem to be building their lives and moving forward, and they seem pretty dang happy. There isn’t much more that a parent can ask for!

Meanwhile, I’ve been writing more, drawing a lot, and conjuring a great many new monsters (like the one that appeared in my cereal bowl a few days ago, as seen in the image above.)

New Years is only a couple of days away, and with this new era dawning, I’m hoping that the pendulum continues to swing towards the light for a while… Let’s keep those psychic impulses and magickal incantations pointed towards progress and help make the world a happier place!
