Read SCOTT PILGRIM’S PRECIOUS LITTLE LIFE graphic novel by Bryan Lee O’Malley. Very, very similar to the film, word for word in many places, but still fun.

Finished reading EXQUISITE CORPSE – SURREALISM AND THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER by Mark Nelson and Sarah Hudson Bayliss. Yucky. Crime scene photos and many disturbing Surrealist works, which often deal with mutilations and dismemberment. I definitely prefer Dada.

Finally finished reading Mark Twain’s THE MAN THAT CORRUPTED HADLEYBURG AND OTHER STORIES. It was good, but most of the stories were not funny. It was a later, much darker book than some of his that I’ve read.

Finished reading a “book” (although I’d consider it more of an essay, though a very good essay) called ALL THE YOUNG DUDES – WHY GLAM MATTERS by Mark Dery. I’m a fan of glam and of Bowie, and I did find the essay enjoyable. I wish it was 200 pages longer, but it was still good.

Read THE EXORCIST by William Peter Blatty. Started it yesterday afternoon. Finished it in fewer than 24 hours. VERY similar to the film, in fact word for word in most spots. I’d never read the book. Now I have.

Read DEAD EVER AFTER by Charlaine Harris, the last Sookie Stackhouse book. Easy, fun read, as all these books have been, but a bit too “set um up, knock um down” for my taste. She invoked a “Devil” character, but didn’t use him at all, beyond the first few pages of the book. What a waste!

Finally finished reading Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS. Good book. It shouldn’t have taken as long to read, but I was reading it mostly at night and I think it creeped me out successfully enough that I had to stop reading it several times to avoid “the weirds.” (A nighttime affliction I sometimes suffer.)
